Notes:

  • These are five different baptism records:
    • Juana, daughter of Juan Antonio and Juana María.
    • Bartolomé, son of Baltasar de Salazallo and Magdalena Maria
    • Juana, daughter of Francisco
    • Isabel, daughter of Atonio Chahuiz and Ana Cays(?)
    • Fransisca, daughter of Juan Mateo and Madalena the middle (or third).
  • The relationship/descriptor “tlaco” after Madalena in the fifth baptism record translates to “the middle,” like the middle child/daughter or “the third,” like the third child or daughter.
  • There are some years that look like 1632 on the image, but after comparing other records, 1637 is the correct year despite the error.
  • Places:
    • Huitzinhuacan (known today as Huitzilac) is located 15 miles (24 km) north of Cuernavaca. It roughly translates to "in the water of the hummingbirds.”
    • Atliyacan (known today as Atlatlahucan) is located about 18 miles (30 km) northeast of Cuernavaca. It roughly translates to "where the water emerges" or "the water's source."
    • Analco (also known as San Antón Analco) is a historic barrio located in Cuernavaca. It roughly translates to "on the other side of the water" or "across the river."
    • Cocotzinco is no longer a distinct town or barrio, it was located near Ocotepec and Ahuatepec which are located just to the north of Cuernavaca.1 It roughly translates to the "place of the little turtledoves" or "place of the little doves."
    • Acapanzinco (often spelled Acapanzingo or Acapantzinco) roughly translates to "Place of the little reeds in the water." It is a historic barrio located about 1 mile (2 km) south of downtown Cuernavaca.
