This collection comes from the L.Tom Perry Special Collections at BYU. An eclectic mix of deeds, probates, and marriage settlements, it covers England between the late fifteenth century and the middle of the nineteenth century. There was virtually no centralized registration of deeds and property transfers in England until the twentieth century, and there were multiple jurisdictions that governed property. Therefore, documents about land transfers are scattered across various archives. BYU students enrolled in History 350 (English Paleography) have been systematically transcribing and analyzing these documents since 2012.
